Actor and singer-songwriter Nick Jonas will be hosting this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theather in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 23.

Nick To Make His Hosting Debut

That’s right! The youngest Jonas Brother will be joining an exclusive list of singers who have hosted the event in the past. Among them are Kelly Clarkson, who has been the host for the past three years, Phil Collins, LL Cool J, and Ludacris. That’s great company!

The current coach of The Voice broke the news on his social media accounts. He posted a funny video portraying Vice President Kamala Harris’ call to President Biden in November last year right after the news broke that he had become the new president. In the video, Vice President Harris happily expresses, “We did it! We did it, Joe. You’re going to be the next president of the United States.”

Similarly, Jonas starts his announcement holding a BMA trophy like a telephone. He then says, “Joe (referring to his older brother,) we did it. I don’t know. I don’t know how, we did it. Yeah, the preemptive, Best Host Ever award, for the Billboard Music Awards. On May 23rd on NBC. It’s unbelievable, I know. Alright, bye now.” He then shows a close-up of his trophy, which has a post-it on it. The note reads, “Best Host Ever.”

Who Has BBMA Nominations?

The nominations of 2021 BBMAs were announced on April 29. The Weeknd is leading with 16 nominations this year alone. All are for his 2020 released After Hours record and his chart-topping song “Blinding Lights.” Other nominees with multiple mentions include DaBaby with 11, Pop Smoke with 10, and Gabby Barrett with nine.

This is in addition to Bad Bunny, Chris Brown, Juice WRLD, and Megan Thee Stallion who have seven nominations each. Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and BTS also have spots in four categories. These stars are followed by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande who have secured their own three nominations.

The full list of performers and presenters hasn’t been announced yet. Nonetheless, artists that are confirmed to perform at the ceremony include The Weeknd, Duran Duran, BTS, and P!NK.

Tune in to NBC at 8:00 p.m. ET/5 :00p.m. PT on Sunday, May 23 to watch Nick Jonas’ Billboard Music Awards hosting debut! Also, see if he earns the title of “Best Host Ever”!
