Katy Perry Celebrates Pokemon’s 25th Anniversary On “Electric”

Katy Perry has been a fan of Pokemon for as long as she can remember. To celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary, she partnered with them on the song, “Electric.”

“Electric” Has Post Malone Celebrating 25 Years, Too!

Katy Perry’s new single, “Electric,” follows up Post Malone’s “Only Wanna Be With You” cover, which also celebrates the anniversary. Katy Perry just joined in, too. This new song, “Electric,” was, as the name suggests, inspired by Pikachu’s power. The iconic character from the sensational game is, in fact, electric. “I know you feel it, feel it. If you believe it, then you can. There’s no reason that this life can’t be. Electric,” she sings in the chorus.

The music video for the song has Perry starring in it… and alongside Pikachu himself! The two of them go on an adventure together where they travel back in time to change the singer’s past. Fans get a glimpse of a young Katy Perry hanging out with Pikachu at a talent show. Then, their future selves proceed to encourage Katy to participate in the competition by discovering a powerful vintage jacket. She finds confidence in it, and that’s how her successful music career of today starts.

During an interview with People Magazine from January, Katy spoke about the exciting new project. “I love being a part of anything that is playful and is good storytelling and has really good messages to share with the world. Now having a child myself, I understand that it’s so important to play. This is a continued extension of who I am.”

“I was pregnant when I was at the Pokémon Café in Japan actually, little did I know! It was amazing. It brought up all these wonderful childhood memories. I’ve been going to Japan since I was 17 every year and have always really loved everything that’s been created there.”

“Electric” will be part of Pokemon 25: The Album along with Post Malone’s “Only Wanna Be With You.” The album is expected to be released later this year and will include even more Pokemon-inspired tracks. We can’t wait!
