Pop singer Louis Tomlinson has recently dropped his latest single. Most of the world knows Louis Tomlinson as an ex-member of the previously existing boy group, One Direction. After the split, the boys each went their own ways, releasing their own music. Tomlinson’s debut solo album, Walls, came out in the beginning of 2020. He has since only released a few singles here and there over the past 2 years. However, he’s back, and with a brand-new sound.

“Out Of My System” is a gritty, punk rock song. It’s the second single off of Tomlinson’s upcoming album, Faith in the Future.

Louis Tomlinson’s first single off of Faith in the Future was “Bigger Than Me.” According to Starr Bowenbank at Billboard, “Bigger Than Me” reached No. 35 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. It also debuted at No. 14 on the Hot Trending Songs chart.

“Out Of My System”

The song is Tomlinson’s first foray into industrial rock. “Out Of My System” has classic, trademark punk instrumentals. A booming bass and electric guitar drive the song. Tomlinson bounces between low vocals for the verses and belting for the choruses. With lyrics like, “I am only half of what / I think I can be / Gotta get it out of my system / Gotta get it off of my chest,” Tomlinson tries to reach that tenacious, industrial rock sound.

Though he certainly has the enthusiasm, Louis Tomlinson seems to have created a more generic punk rock song. Since this is his first time experimenting with punk rock, it’s understandable that he leans towards this more basic, repetitive sound.
