Artists With The Most Grammy Nominations This Year
The nominations for the biggest night in music— The Grammys— were announced. Music critics, lovers, and influencers are voicing their opinions on the academy’s selections for the 2023 Grammy Awards.
Firstly, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the following artists acquired several Grammy nominations: Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Adele, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny and Lizzo. As a matter of fact, Beyoncé collects the most nominations for this year’s Grammys (9). Following, Kendrick Lamar (8), Adele (7), Future and Harry Styles (6 each). Notably, this ties Beyoncé with JAY-Z for the most Grammy nominations ever, with 88 each.
Song & Record Of The Year Grammy Nominations
“abcdefu” — GAYLE
“About Damn Time” — Lizzo
“All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (The Short Film)” — Taylor Swift
“As It Was” — Harry Styles
“Bad Habit” — Steve Lacy
“BREAK MY SOUL” — Beyoncé
“Easy on Me” — Adele
“GOD DID” — DJ Khaled feat. Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, JAY-Z, John Legend & Fridayy
“The Heart Part 5” — Kendrick Lamar
“Just Like That” — Bonnie Raitt
On the other hand, some of the nominees come as a disappointment to many. Actually, some are jaw-dropping—and not in a good way. To begin with, “abcdefu” by GAYLE is nominated for Song Of The Year. “abcdefu” sparked virality on Tiktok this past year. Although the song is catchy to some, the quality and longevity is just not there. In my opinion, it does not earn the right to be nominated for the category.
Record Of The Year
“Don’t Shut Me Down” — ABBA
“Easy on Me” — Adele
“BREAK MY SOUL” — Beyoncé
“Good Morning Gorgeous” — Mary J. Blige
“You and Me on the Rock” — Brandi Carlile featuring Lucius
“Woman” — Doja Cat
“Bad Habit” — Steve Lacy
“The Heart Part 5” — Kendrick Lamar
“About Damn Time” — Lizzo
“As It Was” — Harry Styles
Album Of The Year Grammy Nominations
Voyage — ABBA
30 — Adele
Un Verano Sin Ti — Bad Bunny
RENAISSANCE — Beyoncé
Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) — Mary J. Blige
In These Silent Days — Brandi Carlile
Music of the Spheres — Coldplay
Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers — Kendrick Lamar
Special — Lizzo
Harry’s House — Harry Styles
In addition, the Grammy nominations for album of the year honor massive projects such as RENAISSANCE (Beyoncé), Un Verano Sin Ti (Bad Bunny), Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers (Kendrick Lamar) and more.
Best New Artist
Anitta
Omar Apollo
DOMi & JD Beck
Muni Long
Samara Joy
Latto
Måneskin
Tobe Nwigwe
Molly Tuttle
Wet Leg
Conversely, the Grammy nomination for Best New Artist recognizes rising artists working toward mainstream success. However, Anitta — with over 23 million Spotify monthly listeners and a prominent figure in the Latin community for years — is nominated. Similarly, Måneskin arrived on the music scene in 2016 and has a catalog of smash hits. Therefore, many people were met with confusion to see artists that have been around for years in this category.
Best Rap Album & Song
Best Rap Album
GOD DID — DJ Khaled
I Never Liked You — Future
Come Home The Kids Miss You — Jack Harlow
Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers — Kendrick Lamar
It’s Almost Dry — Pusha T
Best Rap Song
“Churchill Downs” — Jack Harlow feat. Drake
“GOD DID” — DJ Khaled feat. Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, JAY-Z, John Legend & Fridayy
“The Heart Part 5” — Kendrick Lamar
“pushin P” — Gunna & Future feat. Young Thug
“WAIT FOR U” — Future feat. Drake & Tems
For the most part, the general public is displeased about DJ Khaled’s six Grammy nominations. His recent record God Did brought mediocre verses and has had little momentum in my opinion.
Anyhow, Jack Harlows nominations receive large disapproval. And I agree. Come Home The Kids Miss You made little impact on people and hip hop. Also, his lyricism is bland, and he creates “Tiktok hits,” that will not stand the test of time.
Furthermore, JID, Joey Badass and Denzel Curry’s newest albums did not make an appearance in the category for Best Rap Album. There are so many talented lyrical rappers for the Academy to select. As a result, Denzel Curry took to Twitter to express his opinion on the Grammys.

Grammy Snubs Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj And More
Additionally, rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj were also snubbed at this years Grammys. Keep in mind, Minaj recently spoke out about her Billboard No. 1 hit “Super Freaky Girl” being placed in the Pop category by the Academy. In detail, she took to Instagram live to express her dismay, emphasizing that she raps throughout the entire track. With that being said, fast forward and Nicki Minaj receives 0 Grammy nominations. As a result, her fans “the barbz” were quick to point out that the Academy favors non-black artists that do not voice their concerns and disapproval regarding the Grammys.

Not only was Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion snubbed of a Grammy nomination, but also Summer Walker, Ari Lennox, and Kehlani as well. Fans of these artists (including myself) are furious to see they have 0 Grammy nominations. Undoubtedly, Ari Lennox should be nominated for R&B single “Pressure.” And R&B hit-maker Kehlani released blue water road this year, with some of the most beautiful love songs, such as “melt” and “everything.” Lastly, Summer Walker’s No. 1 album Still Over It (2021) had the biggest streaming week ever in the U.S. for an R&B album by a female artist. Not to mention, the album delivers classics like “No Love (with SZA)”, “Unloyal (with Ari Lennox)” “Insane” and countless others.
Best R&B Album
Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) — Mary J. Blige
Breezy (Deluxe) — Chris Brown
Black Radio III — Robert Glasper
Candydrip — Lucky Daye
Watch the Sun — PJ Morton
Following the announcement of the nominations, Walker addressed the Grammys on her Instagram story:
