If one things for sure, Drake knows how to keep his fans on their toes. Drake and 21 Savage’s co-headlining It’s All A Blur Tour beginning on July 5th has produced its fair share of viral moments so far. From the uncomfortable floating sperm visuals, a Childish Gambino diss to Drake ducking objects from the audience. The Canadian rapper also invited a notable guest to perform their greatest hit alongside him. And there’s plenty more surprises in store as the It’s All A Blur Tour continues into October.
Real Or Holographic?
The audience was dumbfounded when Drake brought out what fans believed was a hologram of the young rapper alongside him. In reality, the 36-year-old musician hired a young actor to portray his preteen self. Past and present Drizzy sat on a bed on stage together while the theme song to the show Family Matters plays. Then, another segment of It’s All A Blur Tour includes an older adolescent “Drake” sitting on a couch before handing the real Drake a book. But the singer/rapper had audience members and internet fooled, presuming the the actors were holographic representations.
Floating Sperm Visual, Gambino Diss & Thrown Objects
At the debut of It’s All a Blur Tour, the backdrop was a strange visual appearing to be a floating sperm swimming in circles. As for the meaning behind it- we still don’t know. More memorable moments would include a Virgil Abloh statue and a Childish Gambino diss. A video captured by a fan shows a brief interlude in which Drake threw shade at Childish Gambino’s Grammy-Award winning 2018 hit “This Is America.” The song was originally intended to be a Drake diss which Gambino would confirm earlier this year in a GQ interview. Besides sending shots at Gambino fans have been shooting their shot with Drizzy by tossing bras from the crowd as well as a phone. Phone-throwing has been a major issue at concerts this year and artists like Cardi B have fought back.
J. Cole And Drake Reunite On Stage
When it comes to guest appearances on tour, Drake has the starpower to bring along some major-league musicians. At the July 14th show of It’s All a Blur Tour, seasoned rapper J. Cole made an appearance. Whats even more, the friend and collaborator of Drake surged through the crowd wearing a yellow shirt reading “The game has changed, you have been warned.” Cole then proceeded to perform his diamond 2014 hit “No Role Modelz.”
Drake took this moment to give Cole his flowers, praising him for his contributions to hip-hop culture. Drake even requests to feature on his next album. He asks, “Hopefully, there’s an album? Hopefully, there’s an album I can actually get on…Can I get on the album? I’m going to ask in front of Montreal. Can we get on your album?
