Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Myriam Fares team up on “Tukoh “Taka,” the official FIFA Fan Festival anthem this year at the World Cup. Other musical acts performing during the tournament include Calvin Harris, Diplo, Black Eyed Peas, Lil Baby and J Balvin.
“I am so happy to be part of this FIFA World Cup anthem! I always dreamt of an opportunity like this,” Maluma said in a statement. “Representing Latin music on this global track alongside amazing artists that sing in English and Arabic, takes our culture to another level.”
In a cover story with i-D Magazine, the iconic rapper teases that her follow-up to her 2018 LP, Queen, is coming soon.
“Tukoh Taka” featuring Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Myriam Fares
In the fevert single’s music video, the trio party in the desert, a close resemblence to host country Qatar’s dry environment. Arriving on a bus with international revelers, Minaj kicks off the song’s first verse with a bilingual flare: “Me, soy Trini / Everyting di man have, dat a fi mi / ¿Dónde está el dinero? Papi, gimme / Pretty face, ugly gyal can’t see me.”
The historic anthem, produced by Gordo, Play-N-Skillz and Massari, is the first time a World Cup anthem has English, Spanish and Arabic languages in one track. As Minaj raps in both English and Spanish, Maluma sticks to Spanish while Fares sings in Arabic.
Lebanese singer Myriam Fares then joins the party with her dancers during the catchy chorus. However, it’s not until the third verse that she flexes her Arabic language. “Khalina kelna nghani / W nebni hwalayna jani / W el alam kelo yhani / W el sot yehla w yaala / Khali el alam yesmaana ”
But let’s not forget Latin superstar Maluma and his chokehold over the second verse. Coming off his recent single with Adam Levine, he continues to set new highs in the music industry. “¿Qué tal si me pego lento a tukoh taka? / Y esta es la vuelta cuando el perro ataca / Oro es lo que tiene abajo de esa bata.”
