Stray Kids Drop Their First Japanese Album “THE SOUND”

Korean boy group Stray Kids have proven to be global superstars these past few years. Their success has only grown since then. THE SOUND is not only the group’s first album of the year, but also their first Japanese full-length album. With pre-released tracks “THE SOUND” and “There,” THE SOUND exemplifies their outstanding lyricism, proficient vocal range, and experimentation with genres.

THE SOUND by Stray Kids

The 10-track long album features the Japanese version of “CASE 143,” from their most recent Korean EP MAXIDENT, which has gained success worldwide. THE SOUND is currently projected to debut at #1 on the Japanese Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, with over 250,000 units sold within the first 3 days. As a result, the LP is now their best-selling Japanese album.

On the title track, Stray Kids establish that “nobody can stop this fire” with their distinctive, heavy-hitting EDM production. In the next song, “Battle Ground,” Stray Kids play with a rock-influenced instrumental. Stray Kids unveil how the group is navigating through the “music battleground” by making sure they keep their passion close to them as they aim for the top.

Yet, THE SOUND has its emotional, alternative melodies such as “There” and “DLMLU,” both written by several Stray Kids members.

Stray Kids are currently on their “MANIAC” tour, stopping in Southeast Asia and Australia, along with a couple of rescheduled U.S. dates. Due to their flourishing popularity, they are set to perform for Japanese audiences at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka. This will be their first time holding their tour in a dome venue.

Additionally, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has reported that Stray Kids have earned the 7th spot on their Global Artist Chart. This places them with other globally known musicians such as Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Bad Bunny. Stray Kids currently have about 8 million Spotify listeners, making them the second most-streamed K-pop boy group on the platform.

The statistics are not just for any reason, they prove the creativity behind the members and their efforts. Tune in and give THE SOUND a listen below!
