Post Malone’s “Mourning,” Off Upcoming Album, “Austin”

Post Malone's upcoming album 'Austin'

2023 is Post Malone’s year. From a new tour, to an upcoming album, to hit singles like”‘Mourning,” fans of Posty have much to look forward to this year.

Post Malone’s New Album, “Austin”

On May 19, Post Malone dropped his latest single, “Mourning.” This comes immediately after the singer/rapper announced his upcoming album, Austin, which is set to release on July 28th. The artist made the announcement in an Instagram post, captioned: “This whole ordeal has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records I’ve worked on. I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment.”

“Guess That’s Why They Call It ‘Mourning'”

For starters, “Mourning” provides a deeper look into this new chapter with Post Malone. It maintains the usual Posty sound and transparency, but peels back yet another layer of the artist. The track is a short one -only two and a half minutes, paying tribute to nights spent drinking and the mornings that came after. You can hear the vulnerability in the lyrics, discussing Post’s struggle to navigate fame and establish genuine connections with the people. Like so many people, Post ended up internalizing his emotions and finding solace at the bottom of the bottle. This is especially evident in the chorus:

“Thought I was strong enough / Threw my bottle at the sky, said, ‘\”God, that’s a warning, / Don’t wanna sober up / Try to keep it inside, but I just wanna pour it”

Chorus for ‘Mourning’

‘Mourning’ comes as the second single to be released from the forthcoming album, “Austin.” Both are available for streaming now!
