BAERD’s Musical Influences

Repping Boston, Massachusetts, the power boy band BAERD aims to make a positive impact on listeners. With instrumentation and lyricism as their focal point, BAERD derives their sound from Jazz, Americana, Classical, R&B, and World Music. In fact, much to our surprise, artists like Frank Ocean, Punch Brothers and Perfume Genius would make the bandmates fall in love with music. More importantly, BAERD are transparent and have the ability to uplift their audience in their progressive folk music. Furthermore, they seek purpose in their music by helping others navigate through personal and relationship issues.

“Let Go Of The Myth”

In depth, their newest cut “Let Go of the Myth,” tackles themes of trauma, low self esteem, and self-growth. BAERD reassures us we are not broken, despite the things we have endured. Also giving a sense of hope and strength to people in the midst of struggle. “Let Go of the Myth” addresses the people that feel undeserving, worthless, and lost in life.

“Let go of the myth / That people see under your skin / Their caught in their own / Let go of the myth / That you’re lost in your pieces / You’re always whole,” the band sings. And so, BAERD strives to instill confidence and break one’s shell of insecurity and doubt. ”You’re so much more than a spinning wheel with clay / Molded by your family’s shame / Some days I feel that weight,” Beard sings. In addition, their moving lyrics acknowledge trauma resulting from parents wrongdoings. “Some days I worry we’re yesterday’s children / Made to repeat our parents mistakes / Some of us can change,” BAERD writes.

The actions and words of parents hold massive weight, affecting the way children grow and mature. Moreover, BAERD recognize this, and have hope that this generation can break generational curses. The band reminds us that our thoughts are often myths, and we need to stop being so critical of ourselves.
