Hip Hop 50 Live: Everything You Need to Know About the Celebration of the Genre

On Hip Hop’s 50th birthday, Hip Hop 50 Live will celebrate where the genre originated from in the Bronx, NY on August 11. The one-of-a-kind event will showcase Run DMC’s “Bottom of the Ninth…The Walk-Off” performance. It will feature appearances from all the hip hop legends you can imagine – from Ice Cube to Lil Wayne to Snoop Dogg and more. Of course, you can’t have Hip Hop 50 without the “Queens of Hip Hop” set, which includes performances from groundbreaking female rappers like Eve, Lil Kim, Remy Ma, and Trina.

Performances From Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, & More

Additionally, Hip Hop 50 features performances from T.I., Fat Joe, Common, A$AP Ferg, EPMD, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, and Slick Rick. Also, the set known as the “Pillars of Hip-Hop” will feature Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Roxanne Shante, Scorpio, and the Sugar Hill Gang. Even more, the “Legendary DJ” set recruits Clark Kent, Marley Marl, Mannie Fresh, and Battlecat.

They both paved the way for the ones after them and created new lanes within hip hop.
