Featured Artist: Victoria Monét Isn’t Just a Three-Time GRAMMY Winner

Victoria Monét and Her Three GRAMMYs

This year, out of seven GRAMMY nominations, longtime Music Daily favorite Victoria Monét won three. She won the GRAMMY for Best New Artist, going up against Gracie Abrams, Fred again.., Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, Noah Kahan and The War And Treaty. A heavily stacked category, indeed. Winning such an award is a testament to Monét’s rising stature as a solo artist in the industry.

Monét also won two GRAMMYs for her latest album, JAGUAR II: Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. In the latter category, Monét won against another Music Daily favorite, Caroline Polachek and her album Desire, I Want To Turn Into You.

Motivated by her influences—Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliot, Sade and more—Monét has clearly created music that would make her favorites proud.

But Wait, There’s More to Learn About Monét

Victoria Monét has been making waves as a solo artist since the release of her song “On My Mama,” but she’s always been an influential part of the industry—as a songwriter.

She’s co-written hits like “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)” by BLACKPINK, “You Wouldn’t Understand” by Nas and “Drunk Texting” by Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko.

Monét has also co-written several songs for Fifth Harmony, including “Reflection,” “No Way,” “Them Girls Be Like,” “We Knew” and “Everlasting Love.”

However, she’s taken part the most in Ariana Grande’s discography. She’s earned songwriting credits working with Grande since 2013 with the album Yours Truly. Since then, Monét has been found in the credits on multiple songs on every single one of Grande’s albums. She’s co-penned songs like “7 rings,” “thank u, next,” “motive (with Doja Cat)” and so many more.

With all this in mind, Monét definitely has the talent deserving of her accolades. She’s going to continue being an artist worth watching.
