Sometimes the TikTok algorithm spouts hidden gems that are destined to grace every one of your playlists. In another example of the social media platform coming out on top, we discover Anthony Russo and his latest track, “u & i.”

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Russo is a rising artist who has sporadically dropped killer singles throughout his musical career. Dating back to 2016 with his debut, Anthony Russo has been experimenting with different genres in an effort to establish an authentic sound. And yet, throughout these years of experimentation, he’s instead solidified his artistry as a powerhouse in a variety of areas. From indie to pop to R&B, there’s yet to be a sound that Russo hasn’t excelled in.
Despite his minimal discography, Anthony has accumulated millions of streams on many of his tracks. His top track remains his 2017 release “California,” with over 27 million streams on Spotify. It’s a wonder how the attention hasn’t trickled down to the rest of his releases. Perhaps the only reason Russo hasn’t blown up again falls to the universe deeming it not his time yet. However, with tracks like his latest “u & i” and “Empty Your Mind,” we feel that widespread attention is long overdue. And hopefully, his time will come alongside the new year.

With the help of TikTok, we discovered Anthony while he promoted his song, “u & i.” Composed of dreamy melodies cushioned with Russo’s catchy lyrics, “u & i” is a vibey track that calms the heart and soul. It’s a strong contender for Russo’s best work, displaying beauty in its simplicity. Despite excelling in other genres, we can say with confidence that this sound is where Anthony’s vocals shine the most. Signifying the beginning of an era for the singer, this track marks the start of a thrilling adventure filled with new music.
