Gracie Abrams, Miya Folick & More To Appear On “The Buccaneers” Soundtrack

Apple TV+ will premiere the new eight-episode drama series The Buccaneers this fall, along with a star-studded, all-female soundtrack. The series derives from the final novel of the same name from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton.

Apple TV+ Presents The Buccaneers

The Apple TV+ press release for The Buccaneers describes the series as, “Girls with money, men with power. New money, old secrets. A group of fun-loving young American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition.” Apple TV+ continues, “Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying ‘I do’ is just the beginning …”

With that, The Buccaneers, from creator Katherine Jakeways, stars a multitude of talented actresses. These include Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse, Mia Threapleton and Christina Hendricks.

The All-Female Soundtrack

Importantly, The Buccaneers premieres November 8, accompanied by the all-female soundtrack, produced by Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint. The album, released via Interscope, features appearances from singer/songwriters Gracie Abrams, Sharon Van Etten, Miya Folick and more.

In fact, Miya Folick set high expectations with the lead single from The Buccaneers soundtrack, “What We Wanna.” The pop track sees an assertive Folick belting the chorus, “We’re big girls / We don’t cry / ‘Cause we get what we want and we get it everytime.” Further, in an Olivia Rodrigo talk-singing fashion, Folick creates a female empowerment anthem driven by drums. “She looks sweet, but she’s so sour / Dresses like royalty / This girl was made for power,” Frolick sings.

Lastly, producer Mozgawa states about the soundtrack: “It was a truly incredible experience working with this group of uniquely talented artists. Everyone brought their A-game and taught me something invaluable about the creative process.” Mozgawa adds, “Witnessing these artists map each character’s journey through song was a joy and the album feels like a really exciting companion to the show.”

New episodes of The Buccaneers will air weekly every Wednesday through December 13.
