Doja Cat is a Billboard Powerhouse and more Billboard winners

Also this year, Billboard celebrated women in music with their award show,  Billboard Women in Music. Doja Cat, H.E.R., Saweetie and Olivia Rodrigo are just some of the many incredible women who were celebrated in the event.

It’s International Women’s Month and Billboard celebrated the some in the music industry. Ten female artists received ten different awards celebrating their rule and impact in 2021.The yearly event’s aim is to recognise music’s rising artists, creators, producers and executives for their contributions to the industry and community.

Texan singer-songwriter, model, actress and entrepreneur Ciara presented the show. Ciara was the 2009 Woman of the Year. This year, the event took place at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California. Although the event took place on March 2, you still can watch the show on the official website of the event.

The awards and honourees

Here are the complete list of this year’s honorees

  • Gabby Barrett for the Rising Star Billboard Music Award (presented by Honda). This top artist won three 2021 Billboard Music Awards, including top female country artist and 2021 ACM Award for new female artist of the year.
  • Phoebe Bridgers for the Trailblazer Award, famous for her song with Taylor Swift’s Nothing New (Taylor’s Version)
  • Doja Cat for the Powerhouse Award. With her single Say, So the artist began her unstoppable journey. Her successful singles and albums brought her to eight 2022 Grammy nominations and five 2020-21 American Music Award.
  • H.E.R. for the Impact Award for her singles Fight for You and I Can’t Breathe, which also gave her the 2020 song of the year award.
  • Karol G for the Rule Breaker Award famous for her credits in the Jonas Brothers’ song X. She also won one 2018 Latin Grammy Award as best new artist.  Plus also won two 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards
  • Bonnie Raitt for the Icon Award with her 1991 hit Something to Talk About and 1990 album “Nick of Time”.
  • Olivia Rodrigo for the Woman of the Year Billboard Music Award. The artist was undoubtlely the star of the year with her No 1 Hot 100 hits drivers license and Good 4U.  Also her five-weeks-No.1 album SOUR also gave her traction. The artist was also nomineed for seven 2022 Grammy awards and won three 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, including song of the year with driver’s license.
  • Saweetie for the Game Changer Award, famous for her single Best Friend (featuring Doja Cat). In 2022 she received a Grammy nomination for best new artist.
  • Summer Walker for the Chartbreaker Award, 2020 album of the year (Over It) winner.

In addition, founder and CEO of Reservoir Media Golnar Khosrowshahi received the Executive of the Year Award.

Moreover, four of these artists were also nominateed in “Big Four” categories at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
