The contemporary pop giants, Dave Guetta, Ann Marie and Coi Leray’s new single involved crossing oceans to combine forces and release yet another club banger. The new single, titled “Baby Don’t Hurt Me,” is a fresh take on the famous “What Is Love” by Haddaway.
David Guetta
Guetta has been an active DJ and creator since 1984, when he first arrived on the club scene in France. In the 21st century, he’s become a staple after generating an exorbitant number of hits. Further, he has collaborated with a nearly limitless array of other stars. Some of these collabs include The Black-Eyed Peas, Flo Rida, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears. Admirably, Guetta has ranked as a top hundred DJ for the past 18 years, seven of which he was ranked in the top three. His unique style utilizes elements of EDM, house, and pop to exhilarating effect, and has garnered him ten billion streams.
Anne Marie
Aside from being a three-time gold world champion in karate (yes, really) she’s one of Britain’s hottest new artists. In 2018, she released Speak Your Mind, which reached number three on the UK album charts. Then, in 2021 Therapy came out, and rose to number two on the UK album charts. Also, she has an untitled album releasing sometime in 2023. Marie utilizes beautiful vocals with a unique delivery and an interesting combination of fingerpicking guitar, piano, and synthetic elements
Coi Leray
Coi Leray is a young rising star in the rap community. The New Jersey native started when she was just 14, and after a hiatus has returned with serious heat. Recently, she released two major hits. First, “No More Parties,” was remixed by Lil Durk and went platinum. Next, she released “Blick Blick” alongside Nicki Minaj. She has a hard hitting and edgy style, reminiscent of Doja Cat or Saweetie but with more grit.
David Guetta, Ann Marie and Coi Leray Drop “Baby Don’t Hurt Me”
The three music magnates deliver listeners a new spin on the massive 1993 pop hit “What is Love” by Haddaway. The song is easily one of the most recognizable of all time, you’re still likely to hear it on the radio today. Guetta, Marie, and Leray pull the best they have to offer and bring the track into the 21st century. The rework features a lighter, reverbed version of the signature synth progression, house swells and drops, a rap verse, and modern pop vocals. It’s safe to say their reimagining is a hit, with over 1.2 million streams on Spotify. Check out these artists and their collaborative release on your preferred streaming service!
