Normani To Return With New Music: ‘1:59’ Will Set the Stage for Solo Success

It’s official: Normani will be back with new music.

The New Orleans/Texas-raised talent recently announced the details of her forthcoming release. The new single, “1:59,” features Gunna and will drop on April 26.

Normani: Debut Album Teaser

The announcement of the song comes exactly a month after she revealed the cover art for Dopamine. It will be the first track of Normani’s long-awaited debut solo album. An album that feels like“liberation, a season of freedom”—as stated by the ex-Fifth Harmony member—“Not just because the record is finally coming out, but because it’s a celebration of everything I have been through to get to this moment.”

The R&B singer has not yet revealed the exact release date of Dopamine. It seems it is expected to drop this year, though. It’s a brand new path for Normani after the disbanding of her former group Fifth Harmony, which happened in March 2018. Since embarking on her solo career, the singer has released only seven singles as a lead artist (with “Motivation” and “Fair” being the only songs she’s released without another artist on it) but hasn’t put out a full album.

Dopamine might be Normani’s way to express herself to the fullest. She is already one of the most representative artists of R&B’s new wave. However, it seems she hasn’t yet done the steps she needs to reach the top.

And so who knows what the new album will bring her…
