Lauv Starts The Year With Surprise Song ‘2021’

Lauv

Lauv might still be a new artist, but the California native singer has been on the charts since his debut. 2021 sounds different to songs that he’s released in the past, and also has a different beat than what he’s known for. Regardless, he still managed to put his mark on it.

He’s known for singles like ‘I like me better,’ ‘I’m so tired,’ ‘If I were you,’ ‘Tattoos together,’ and ‘Fake’. He’s had collaborations with Blackbear, Conan Gray, and Ava Max. In 2018, he released his debut album I Met You When I Was 18.’ Shortly after, he dropped his second album ~how i’m feeling~ last year, having collaborations with artists such as Anne-Marie, Alessia Cara, BTS, and Sofia Reyes.

New Year, New Lauv

‘2021’ is about Lauv and his current girlfriend, Silver Sphere, who is also a singer. This song was released on New Year’s Eve after Lauv released a snippet via TikTok and then again on Instagram. The couple shares the affection they have for each other through Social Media, mostly including Instagram.

Some of the lyrics of the song are “2021. We can have some fun, maybe we could run. I could be the one, baby, you’re the one. I think it’s time to go hard for your loving. Baby, I love you, I don’t want no one else but you.” Lauv shares how he expects 2021 to be a different year than last year was. He wants to have fun with his girlfriend and have some time alone with her.

The song was released on December 31st, 2020. Completely out of a sudden, Lauv tweeted “2021 OUT NOW. STAY SAFE ENJOY NEW YEAR’S EVE SEE U ON THE OTHER SIDE.” This obviously made fans freak out and the song got a great response from them.
