“Feed The Beast” Is Kim Petras In Prime Pop

Feed The Beast is the new Dance Pop Bible according to Kim Petras.

Kim Petras’s major-label debut album, Feed The Beast, is a testament to her ruthless journey toward pop stardom. Three “mixtapes” and one EP later, arrives a project which hones Petras’s electro Eurodance spirit into a mainstream home run.

Studying the pop masterminds of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, Petras supplies endless pop bangers, including 15 new tracks. The heart of Feed The Beast shines between a new-age Madonna on “Sex Talk” and the hyperpop Armageddon “King of Hearts.” If in search of a deep cut, “Thousand Pieces” has the same R&B frostbite as her earlier project, Clarity.

Including her award-winning, platinum-selling “Unholy” is a savvy business move that ultimately dulls the intensity of the record’s soundscape, taking away the ferocity of the BANKS-collaboration “Bait.” Likewise, “Minute” and “Coconuts,” two lighter disco pop tracks, push against Feed The Beast’s hard-hitting Eurodance techno atmosphere despite the individual prowess. Even the highly-anticipated Nicki Minaj collaboration (“Alone”) feels watered down against rave masterpiece “Castle In The Sky.”

She conquered NBC’s TODAY Citi Concert Series to promote her debut album and honored her roots by performing her 2018 classic, “Heart To Break.” Between her electrifying performances, she talked to Hoda Kotb about her 6-year come-up and random Petras facts. One of which, the German-born singer revealed she learned English by watching Britney interviews.

“If you’re really good at something and you work really hard and you’re a nice person to people, you can achieve anything.”
