Black Pistol Fire to Release New Album Jan 29

Looking Alive in 2021

Black Pistol Fire live posted by Julia Blake on Facebook.

Black Pistol Fire, a ‘high octane rock’ duo based in Texas, will be releasing their new album in less than a week. The forthcoming album, Look Alive, is their sixth.

It’s been 4 years since their last record release, 2017’s Deadbeat Graffiti. The Austin, Texas twosome, composed of Kevin McKeown on guitar/lead vocals and Eric Owen on drums, are actually from Toronto, Canada. While Black Pistol Fire is busy making a name for themselves in the States, they are missed back home. Their songs “Lost Cause” and “Bully” are beloved on Canada rock airplay, the former hitting number 1 and the latter reaching number 5.

The band recently released a live version of one of the songs from the album, “Level”.

Certifiable Rockers

Careful listeners will realize that there is a snippet of “Happiness is a Warm Gun” by rock legends, The Beatles. As some of their fans have noted, “Level” is a ‘perfect drinking song’. Black Pistol Fire are masters at crafting music you want to groove to. However, it is to be noted that they are certifiable rockers. Black Pistol Fire loves to turn out a fun, hard-edged show. Consequence of Sound voted the boys the best performance at Voodoo Fest in 2017. That’s no small feat when you remember the bigger names who have performed at the iconic festival. Like say, Arctic Monkeys, Eminem, and The Weeknd.

Black Pistol Fire previously released another single off of Look Alive back in 2020. “Hope in Hell” is another smooth ditty with a tasty amount of grit thrown in for good measure. This time, a fan commented ‘Whoa, I didn’t know “scotch and cigarettes at 2 am in the morning” is a genre’. Again, their fans know exactly how to describe one of the bands making sure rock and roll don’t die.

You can listen to Black Pistol Fire’s new album when it releases on Jan 29 via streaming service or by purchasing it from their online store. You can pre-order Look Alive here on their site to get it as soon as possible. Round Hill Music is distributing the album.
