The “Stand Up for Ukraine” campaign includes a global social media rally on April 8 and a pledging event on April 9. The event aims to mobilize billions of dollars to address the crisis in Ukraine as well as support people who are on the move in every part of the world.

“I’m inviting everybody: musicians, actors, athletes, businessmen, politicians, everybody,” Zelenskyy said in his video address. Therefore, “Everyone who wants to join this movement and ‘Stand Up for Ukraine.’”

Above all, the social media rally intends to put pressure on world leaders; to provide additional emergency funding needed to help the millions of people who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. Also, other conflicts including in Yemen, South Sudan, and Afghanistan.

“Millions of people are fleeing the bombs falling on Ukrainian cities,” von der Leyen said, per Billboard. Therefore, “The world must stand up for them. The European Union is catering for the needs of the millions of refugees it hosts. And we will further step up.
