R&B bilingual singer-songwriters Omar Apollo and Kali Uchis joined forces once again for a new single, “Bad Life.”
“Bad Life” Represents a One-Way Relationship
This is not the first time the pair work together. Last year, they united for “Hey Boy,” a track featured in Omar’s Apolonio mini album. Now, a year later, they reunited to make magic once again like only they know.
“Bad Life” showcases both of the artists’ talents. It’s a soft yet captivating song that explains the troubles that a couple is going through, claiming that’s not a good life. “I can be selfish. You laid your head on me heavy. But I can’t help but think you lust me, yeah. That’s a bad life, bad life. That you’re living,” Omar Sings.
Kali then joins Omar toward the end of the song, sharing her side of the story. “’Cause I feel it deeper. And stronger. It won’t be much longer. ‘Til you see for yourself. That’s a bad life you live.”
Omar shared in a statement what “Bad Life” means to him. “To me, ‘Bad Life’ represents putting in energy into a relationship and not getting anything in return. It’s a song about being resentful towards somebody—wanting them to have ‘bad life’ with whoever they’re with now. I posted a snippet in January teasing it and Kali called me telling me she loved it, so I asked her if she wanted to get on it. Her voice sounds amazing on it, I love her tone.”
