XG’s all-star remix of “Left Right” with Ciara and Jackson Wang is a stellar addition to their catchy retro-futuristic catalog. XG, short for “Xtraordinary Girls,” is a seven-member hip-hop/R&B Japanese group consisting of Jurin, Chisa, Harvey, Hinata, Juria, Maya, and Cocona.
They are the first artists to debut under XGALX, a YG Entertainment and Avex collaboration. The global entertainment production company aims to produce artists with a defined worldview with their slogan: “Create bold culture.”
XG’s third single, “Shooting Star,” amassed large attention from their online fan base by going viral on TikTok. The track even received a remix featuring Rico Nasty.
But “Left Right” is XG’s dark horse after a 12-week climb on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, capping at No. 28. And it doesn’t get better than R&B icon Ciara and Jackson Wang jumping on the remix, a first for both artists.
This April, Jackson Wang premiered the remix live during his Coachella set.
“If I had to sum up our new tracks ‘Shooting Star’ and ‘Left Right’ in one word, it would be ‘authenticity’! These songs carry a message of ‘believing in oneself and becoming the person you want to be, without being swayed by others.’ Our music videos capture XG enjoying the music in their own unique way, and through our lyrics, we aim to convey the significance of staying true to oneself.
XG group member Harvey tells Buzzfeed
XG is making a summer full of festivals as they just wrapped their performance at the inaugural Head in the Clouds New York Music & Arts Festival with Beabadoobee, ITZY and NIKI.
The up-and-coming girl group shows no signs of stopping as they prepare for its LA iteration this August. The group will perform alongside headliners Jackson Wang, Rich Brian, Rina Sawayama, and special guest ZEDD.
