Winnetka Bowling League & Sasha Sloan Visit “barcelona”

Winnetka Bowling League and Sasha Sloan teamed up for the new soothing breakup song, “barcelona.”

“barcelona” Tackles Breakups And Distance

Although you might have not heard of Winnetka Bowling League just yet, it’s possible that you’ve heard of their frontman. DJ Matthew Koma leads the rising alt pop band. Koma himself, along with Sloan and Dan Book, united to create this beautiful new track. “Barcelona” is alternative and indie, talking about breakups and distancing yourself from that special person. Although, it’s not because they are running out of love, but because the circumstances turned out that way.

“Just ’cause the party’s over. Just because we quit while we’re ahead. It doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean, it doesn’t mean that I loved you any less. Just ’cause we reached the end. You went right and I went left. It doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean, it doesn’t mean that I loved you any less,” the pair sing together in the heartbreaking chorus.

Winnetka Bowling League & Sasha Sloan Met OnTour

“‘barcelona’ is a song about still being able to have love for the person that it didn’t work out with,” Koma says about the song in a press release. “I always feel the urge to discredit every ounce of a relationship after it’s over because it feels way better than scrolling the highlight feed…but sometimes there was a lot of good worth recognizing & the ending doesn’t have to be this big dramatic ‘delete all.’”

He also talked about the collaboration with Sloan. “I had a super rough voice note of the chorus on it, and I sent it to Sasha. She told me to finish it, and when I did, she was sweet enough to lend her voice to it.”

Sasha Sloan also mentions, “Winnetka Bowling League opened for me on tour (before Covid and the world fell apart). Matt and I hit it off on the road and we’ve kept in touch ever since. When he sent me ‘barcelona,’ I fell in love with it and wanted to jump on the track!”

“barcelona” follows Winnetka Bowling League’s critically-aclaimed Congratulations EP from 2020. It’s also their first single of the year. We love this collaboration and hope to see another one in the future  from these tour mates turned friends.
