The 1975 are re-issuing their self-titled debut album for its ten-year anniversary this year.
On September 1st, multiple limited edition formats of the album are going live on the band’s website. New and classic merch is going live as well. This includes hoodies, t-shirts, and sweatshirts with old-school designs. The 1975 debut band tees were a staple of indie kids’ wardrobes back in 2013 and 2014. It is going to be fascinating to see the official return.
Highlights of the new merch are listed below for clarity.
- A 4LP deluxe vinyl release containing The 1975 packed with the band’s EPs Facedown, Sex, Music For Cars, and IV.
- A 2LP solid white vinyl release in a gatefold sleeve.
- A D2C white cassette tape release.
- A 2CD D2C set containing the original album and a live album from a Manchester show earlier this year.
- A limited edition slipmat.
- Multiple bundles including music and clothing merch.
The band is performing the entire album in full when they headline the Reading and Leeds festivals.
The 1975: 10 Years On
A statement on the re-issue by the band reads:
“Following headline performances at Reading and Leeds festival The 1975 celebrate 10 years since the release of their self-titled breakthrough album on 1st September 2023. ‘The 1975’ reflects the Manchester art-pop quartet’s shape-shifting adventurousness, an album of indelible choruses and mesmeric melodies that glides from electro grooves to alt-rock explosions to dreamy interludes. ‘The 1975’ was recorded in Liverpool, with Mike Crossey co-producing alongside the band’s Matthew Healy and George Daniel. A seamless meld of their kaleidoscopic range of influences, it encapsulates all that is great about pop music in 2013.
“The statement continues: “The 1975 debuted at number one on the UK charts in 2013, is certified platinum (US) and 2 x platinum (UK), and set the path toward a solid run of international chart-topping, awards, and sell-out arena tours across their subsequent releases.”
