KUNZITE Get Cosmic on “VISUALS” LP

KUNZITE, an instrumentalist and producer duo of Mike Stroud and Agustin White, released their latest LP, VISUALS, last week. The pair explore their electronic roots and bring a whole new dimension to their album – one filled with psychedelic sounds, electric guitar, and ambient lyrics.

The Perfect Lead Track

“LEMON SWAYZE”, the lead single off VISUALS, is in a league of its own. The duo pairs high-tempo percussion with electric instrumentals for a cheerful listen. With flirty, Madonna-esque lyrics like “Take ’em for a ride / Girls just wanna have fun”, it’s apparent why Stroud and White chose this as their first album track. “LEMON SWAYZE” is the perfect addition to your summer playlists.

“HALOHEAD” is Electric

“HALOHEAD,” one of the album’s break-off singles, features absolutely intoxicating guitar riffs and electrifying beat breaks. If you’re looking for a song to blare as you coast down the highway late at night, this is it. Stroud and White outdid themselves, breaking the confines of “alternative” music and fusing with electro-metal.

KUNZITE Takes Us on A Trip

Not all tracks on VISUALS are created equal. “WAIMALIEN,” for example, contains no lyrics. Instead, the song takes us on a trip through time and space, complete with a few psychedelic beat drops and guitars reminiscent of Stroud’s Ratatat days.

‘VISUALS’ is Worth a Listen

VISUALS is an album absolutely worth a listen or two. Mike Stroud and Agustin White create an eclectic masterpiece of an LP, as no two tracks are alike, nor are they drastically different. Each song generates its own musical sphere and sits neatly inside it, while still breaking boundaries of the alt-electric genre.

Of the LP, KUNZITE teases a vinyl version, saying “All vinyl-lovers are going to have to be extra patient, as the press is so backed up we might not have hard copies available until November.” The duo suggests the VISUALS vinyl will harbor an additional two songs.
