After three years of waiting, the majestic AFROPUNK Festival returns home: AFROPUNK Brooklyn makes its return since 2019. The event will host an incredible lineup and huge names to headline, as well.
As stated by the organisers of the event, AFROPUNK Festival is a “celebration of Black joy and a testament to the resilience of the Brooklyn community.” “It’s a celebration of life, music, food, and culture in the Black community.” For this reason, not only fans will be able to witness some of the best black artists around. In fact, they will also participate to activities organised by AFROPUNK. The festival will host the Spinthrift Market, a shop market full of talented makers, selectors and curators from the New York area. It will also host Bites ‘n Beats, a huge range of local food trucks and NYC chefs.
Brooklyn
The long-awaited return of the Brooklyn event has finally arrived! And the headliners and performers didn’t disappoint. In fact, nothing less than The Roots and Burna Boy and more will sky-rocket the event in the new center of New York City.
AFROPUNK Festival includes multiple dates in three different cities. After the performances in Miami and Minneapolis, respectively on May 20-22 and June 18-19, the festival will now move to Brooklyn.
The show will take place in Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn on September 10th and 11th. Nigerian singer Burna Boy and American rappers Isaiah Rashad and Freddie Gibbs will headline the first night.
As for the second one, singer-songwriter from New Orleans Lucky Daye and American rapper Earl Sweatshirt are set as the main names to perform. Moreover, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s official band, The Roots, will take part to the event as well. Fans will also see the performances of Tierra Whack, Adekunle Gold, SPINALL, Mick Jenkins, Fana Hues, BbyMutha, and many more.
