Halover is Finally Back With “Never Truly Alone”

Rising artist Halover is back with a new dark-pop electrifying tune. “Never Truly Alone” marks the singer’s first single in two years and follows up to 2019’s “Let Me Out.”

Lockdown Inspired “Never Truly Alone”

“Never Truly Alone” is a striking dark pop tune from Halover and her long-term producer and collaborator Jiroe. The song is about struggling to be alone with yourself and struggling to accept your thoughts and shortcomings when there is no one around to talk to.

The song starts off very minimalistic with simple percussion followed by Halover’s soft vocals. Gradually, with every section of the song, more and more unique sounds come to the mix; creating an explosive last chorus with multiple harmonies and layers on top.

Halover talks about feeling “lonely” and the feeling of desperately trying to find someone else to “fill the void” in us. Then, turning to various distractions such as TV, gaming, alcohol, online shopping, social media, or anything else, to avoid dealing with our issues.

“I wrote “Never Truly Alone” during lockdown when I had no choice but to be by myself at home. I didn’t want to deal with what was going on in my head at that time. It was making me feel miserable. Instead of working through it, I turned to every possible distraction to quiet it down,” Halover shares. “There is a famous saying ‘We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone’ which I paraphrased. I changed it to ‘Never Truly Alone,’ meaning that we always have ourselves to turn to in difficult times and it’s more than enough.”
