Chlöe Tells You What She Wants On “Treat Me”

Chlöe for the GrammysChlöe Shows Us That It’s No Simple Job Treating Her

Chlöe has shared her newest single, “Treat Me,” and its fiery music video.  One half of the duo Chloe x Halle with her sister Halle Bailey, the star is continuing her solo career after last year’s “Have Mercy.”  The debut single marks the beginning of the promotional cycle for her yet-to-be-announced debut solo album.  In 2020 Chlöe released the Grammy-nominated Ungodly Hour with her sister.  Now, the 23-year-old delivers her latest single with a force including in it: themes of power, pride, and a music video teeming with sex appeal.

Speaking on Instagram Live about the single Chlöe says,

“You guys ever been with somebody who ain’t giving you what you need? Not putting in the work? And it’s like, you shouldn’t have to tell somebody how to treat you. You better treat me like I treat me, ‘cause sometimes it’s only being fed up, just walk away, do it yourself, get yourself some flowers, love yourself. So that’s where I am at right now.”

She Shows Us What She Means By “Treat Me Like I Treat Me”

Truly, the single is full of self-assured energy, and not only lyrically.  The Beyoncé scouted singer has a voice that she delivers with the same energy.  Melodic harmonies and Mariah-Esque ad-libs saturate the OAK (Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato) produced track adding rich vocal layers on top of one another.  Additionally, the danceable track samples Bubba Sparxxx and the Ying Yang Twins’ 2005 hit “Ms. New Booty”  in the chorus.  In all, Chlöe creates an endlessly exciting dance track that’s even better when belted in the club.

Similar to her “Have Mercy” music video, Chlöe delivers a hot dance video full of looks, and simply put… serves.  The Diana Kunst-directed video shows Chlöe flaunting her dance skills, swimming in a pool of liquid gold, and showing off to a table full of unworthy suitors.
