Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness & “Lying On The Hood Of Your Car”

Andrew McMahon, A.K.A Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, just dropped a new pensive pop single: “Lying on the Hood of Your Car.” Let’s check out this cool, multi talented artist together!

About Andrew McMahon

A long-time musician, McMahon played piano since he was 9 and started to write his own songs only a few years after that. Starting his own band in high school named “Something Corporate,” this group would actually play for a decade before disbanding. McMahon would venture off into his solo career, starting solo projects such as “Jack’s Mannequin,” where he would post solo songs. He would also experiment with musical theater as a songwriter on the show “Smash.”

Eventually, McMahon would enter the next stage of his musical career: Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness. Since its conception, McMahon has released 3 studio albums, 1 EP, and over 10 singles. His works have reached the Top 10 on the Pop and Alternative Rock charts. He has also written a well-received memoir and made an introspective titled “Dear Jack.”

“Lying On The Hood Of Your Car”

“Lying On The Hood Of Your Car” is another classic by Andrew McMahon. With a minor, nostalgic, indie sound, McMahon turns a story of youthful dreams into a heart throbbing reflection.

“With our backs against the windshield / And our hearts beating like thunder / We lay separate but connected / By the spell that we were under.”

McMahon is a master of his craft, utilizing his voice and instrumental skills to a maximalist minimum. Every component of this song has a complex part to play, from the operatic harmonies in the vocals, the emotive strumming of the guitar, to the melodic piano-playing. Yet, all of these elements beautifully come together and compliment each other without any one sounding overbearing.

McMahon has truly brought his introspection, and emotion into his songs, with “Lying In The Hood Of Your Car” being a wistful expression of this. Go check out Andrew McMahon’s future projects by clicking here!
