At the beginning of last month, the iconic New York native Alicia Keys dropped some new music as she comes back to the music scene. Her latest single “LALA” is part of a string of tracks the R&B legend has dropped. This time around she gets a little groovy as she and Swae Lee try to come together.
The smooth melody mixed with choppy trumpets and drums is not bad at all. It is a solid track and the combination between the two artists is very unique, to say the least. After a while, however, the track does feel like it is trapped in a monotone loop. Then there is no real change in tone or feeling throughout the song as well.
Alicia Keys and Swae Lee In LaLa Land?
It just seems a tad bit underwhelming from the Grammy winner who’s brought us “Girl On Fire“. But for this song Swae Lee does have a few good one-liners but there really isn’t much to it.
“Light the incense, lose the tension,
Feels like Heaven
Lust mixed with a vodka
(La-la-la, la-la-la, la-la)
Feelings get lost in the LaLa”
As her first introduction to 2021, hopefully, Alicia Keys has more to come to finish the year strong. This is her first headlining song since back in May with “Underdog (Nicky Jam & Rauw Alejandro Remix) “ and it has a very Latin twist.
This was also after, in 2020 when she dropped somewhat of a comeback album with ALICIA. It featured the popular “Show Me Love (feat. Miguel) and “Jill Scott” (feat. Jill Scott).
It had a down to earth experimental R&B sounds to it all, and a great atmosphere and her newest track seems a tad generic. So hopefully we get to see more of what she has been working on before the year-end in her comeback campaign. For now, look at that absurdly shiny dress she struts in the music video Swae Lee and Alicia Keys dropped early last month.
