Last Friday, Atlanta-based rapper Latto FKA Mulatto dropped her new single and video to kick off her new chapter. “The Biggest,” is the first release under the new name of 2021, but her fans have been calling her Latto.
In an interview with Billboard, Latto said that more than anything the name signified a bright new beginning.
“This new name going to bring so many new opportunities, new positivity, and good fortune. And actually that’s what Latto is to me now,” the rapper states.
It seems Latto isn’t skipping a beat, with this on point track and even more support. She starts off her 2021 campaign, still reminding us she’s “Queen of Da Souf“.
Her hit track “B*tch From Da Souf (Remix)” featuring Saweetie & Trina is now RIAA-certified Platinum. In addition, Latto’s “Muwop” is RIAA-certified Gold, making her the first ever female solo rapper from Atlanta to go RIAA-certified Gold & Platinum.
Her 2020 debut album Queen of Da Souf, along with the extended version, has garnered over 364 million streams worldwide and her videos continue to rack up views.
Latto’s Come Up From Da Souf
Latto has been pushing her way up to the top since 2019. Now, seen as a top female rapper, it no surprise her come up was anything but ordinary. First appearing on the T.V. show, “The Rap Game” in 2016 and winning the season.
From there , the now 22-year old musician broke through with her 2019 single, “Bitch from da Souf”, and soon afterwards signing with RCA Records.
Now after a successful debut album, a strong fan base, and even a feature on the remix of “Go Crazy”, we cant wait to hit the lottery in this new era.
Finally, this summer Latto will be performing at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami and Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival in Chicago. Be sure to check back for more updates here on MusicDaily.
