Bad Bunny Honors a Great in Video for “Neverita”

Alright, sit down, grab a snack, ‘cause I’m about to take you on a surprisingly simple yet complex Hispanic journey. What journey could that be? It’s the journey of a fellow Hispanic man coming to terms that Bad Bunny is… actually alright. Now, that was surprisingly difficult to believe. His overall cadence and one-note lyric writing is “industry” personified. It sells, sure; but is it what we should be looking for in Hispanic music? Well, as it turns out “Neverita” is getting me to accept that this approach is pretty nice to the ear. Oh yeah, plus the music video pays homage to one of the greatest Hispanic artists to ever do it, Elvis Crespo. Specifically, the music video to his hit and staple of my childhood “Suavemente.” Anyway, let’s get into it.

Bad Bunny Got Immaculate Beach Vibes:

Opening the music video with literally the same exact format and 1998 VHS aesthetic as the original is definitely a good thing! That said, when I realized that outfits, shots, and editing were replicated, that’s when I said: “Alright… let’s give this a shot.” So, below are some of my favorite comparisons.

So aside from the pretty neat music video, what about the music itself got me thinking a different way? Well, it’s as simple as rhythm and sonics. Basically, everything outside of the actual words coming out of the hyper successful mouth of Bad Bunny is absolutely perfect to me. The guitar in the distance and hip-hop drum machine has completely summer beach vibes. As a Miami boy, this is one of many things and I’m glad to see that it’s that addictive.

That said, I don’t want to be so mean because his cadence is quite good and really blends well with the music. I’m just not a fan of the overly sexual and one-note approach to status Bad bunny takes. That said, I’d definitely recommend this strictly for the vibes. Plus, c’mon, the music video is great. Respect for that.
