Glastonbury Festival has come to an end, and we are ready to discuss the five days of music and entertainment it gave us. After two years of stall, the festival has returned with as many bizarre and impactful moments as it used to have.
Glastonbury Festival
Since 1970, the festival at Worthy Farm has entertained millions of people coming to Pilton, Somerset, England from all over the world. After two years of delays due to the Covid pandemic, the festival has returned as impactful and iconic as it has always been.
Here are the most shocking, impactful and original moment that the festival lived.
Yves Tumor spitting on a camera
Yves Tumor surely gave us one of the best performances of the festival. In the ambience he is used to create, with synths with distortion, this time the artist pushed his boundaries a little further. While singing his Secrecy Is Incredibly Important To The Both of Them, writhing and leaning towards the audience and interacting with the guards, the artist jumped into the crowd. He was soon after hauled out by fans who held him and offered him what to all effects was a seat.
But that’s not all: as only rockstars could do, he even went to spit on a camera.
Three eras on stage in the name of rock
Musically incredible was the fusion of three different eras of rock on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen performed together on stage in the most unusual collaboration. The group performed I Saw Her Standing There and Band On The Run.
Grohl also honoured his friend and bandmate Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in March. In fact, even though the artist didn’t pronounce any word, he wore a big T on his right hand as a tribute.
The Supreme Court’s decision’s impact on the festival
More than one artist commented the Supreme Court’s decision to ban abortion in the US.
Olivia Rodrigo discussed the end of Roe V. Wade. “I’m devastated and terrified,” Rodrigo said. “So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this.” She then named every single member of the SC who made this happen: “This song goes out to the Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you!”
She then proceeded by performing the song Fuck You by Lili Allen with the British singer herself.
Megan Thee Stallion had to say something, too. “I mean godd*mn what else you want,” she said. “Texas really embarrassing me right now, ya’ll know that’s my home state. And I want it on the record that the mother f*cking hot girls and hot boys do not support this bullsh*t that ya’ll are campaigning for.”She then screamed with the crowd: “My body, my motherf*ckin choice.”
Kendrick Lamar created a striking moment as well. While wearing a diamond crown of thorns and with fake blood dripping on his face, the rapper pronounced the words: “They judge you, they judge Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights!”
Lorde, Billie Eilish, Joe Talbot, the lead singer of the British rock band Idels and Phoebe Bridgers commented on the choice ruling as well.
The Queen was seen among the crowd
Finn noticed a well known figure among the others, and decided to point it out on their Twitter account.
“The Queen has turned up at Glastonbury to watch Robert Plant,” he wrote under the evidence. “That disguise is fooling nobody.”
The picture of Elizabeth lookalike in a blue raincoat went immediately viral among people’s surprise and curiosity.
Although it is hardly possible that the woman really was the Queen, the Twitter community found it as funny as it can be. And the suspicious woman got her moment of fame.
Is it real? Is it only an illusion? We want you to decide. The similarities are clearly there.
