This past Sunday, MTV hosted their 38 annual VMAs with popstar host Doja Cat. Like most VMAs, the star studded event had countless iconic moments to remember. Check out the full Playlist in our Tracks section!
The event held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn included some of the biggest names in music right now. Many got a chance to perform live for the first time in a while as well as debut some new music. While celebrating the up and coming artist of today, there were plenty of appearances from the industry’s veterans too.
We saw amazing performances from seasoned musicians like Busta Rhymes playing a melody of his greatest hits. As well as the Foo Fighters jamming out after winning the Global Icon Award.
However, the new generation of music took over with visually stunning performances from MGK, Lil Nas X, Normani, and many more. Doja Cat even look a break from her host duties to show off her acrobatic skills while singing some hit songs.
The VMAs really pulled out all of the stops to make this show live up to its strong reputation. And especially after an underwhelming 2020 show, this year had to make up for it.
The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards were held back in August, the traditional month as opposed to this year in September. Keke Palmer hosted the 37th annual ceremony, which was presented primarily from New York City, but with no in-person ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But now, they are back with slaying red carpet looks and touching acceptance speeches.
With that said, here are some of the standout wins from this years show:
