Therapy is the debut album of rising pop star Zoe Wees. Born in Hamburg, Germany, but with North American roots, Wees started writing songs in English and taking singing lessons at 14.
Her climb to success began with a talent show (The Voice Kids) and some covers of Lewis Capaldi, James Bay and Leonard Cohen. Then, in March 2020, the boom: Wees released the single “Control” and reached the top 50 in the USA, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland. The song peaked at number 16 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 in the United States and was certified gold for exceeding 500,000 units sold.
Not to mention, also, the collaborations with artists like 6LACK (“That’s How It Goes“), Kygo (“Love Me Now”) and Tom Walker (“Wait for You“).
But now it’s time for more, and quite frankly she couldn’t think of a better time to release this debut album. Dropped at the beginning of the month, Therapy contains all the variety of Zoe Wees’ last works. Meaning her discography is about to take on a different aspect—more mature. Zoe Wees is indeed a pop singer with a very clear taste in music and lyrics. She has the maturity of the greats, even though she has not yet reached that pinnacle. But, realistically, it wouldn’t be surprising if she dominated the charts in a few years. She’s got it all: a good quantity of talent, a powerful voice and a certain project she intends to follow with her music path.
Therapy explores a range of emotions, from the complexities of relationships to the introspective musing when overthinking. And more importantly, it’s supposed to be Zoe Wees’ presentation for what will come next. We can’t wait for it.
