Last week, R&B singer Lucky Daye has released yet another single to add to his strong 2021 campaign. The latest track from Daye is titled “Over” and it is one of the purest R&B sounds of the year.
With slightly distorted Latin acoustic and trap-inspired beats, there is no luck when it comes to this hit’s love theme. As Lucky Daye shows off his impressive vocal range a story of tug-of-war is played between lovers. As Lucky sifts his way through a toxic relationship, he wonders if his relationship is over or not.
The is so relatable because everyone’s heart has been played at one time or another. Unfortunately for Lucky Daye, that time is right now but it makes for a solid track and a great message. You can feel the emotion with every word he sings as he tells us his odd situation with verses like, “You keep on making me believe, nightmares turned into dreams”.
As a musician known for his sensual R&B hits, Lucky takes a different route on this one showing he isn’t just a one-trick pony. Although the song is a sad subject, there is still an unmistakable vibe to the track. The production is solid and the message is something most can get behind.
Lucky Daye? Or Lucky Year?
This is just another addition to all the music Lucky has been pumping out in 2021. Just this year, Lucky Daye has appeared on five different singles, including Masego’s “Good & Plenty (Remix).” Not only did we get those singles, but Lucky also dropped an EP just in time for Valentine’s Day. Table For Two is the newest project that takes a nostalgic take on modern R&B.
The 7-track EP includes amazing features from Ari Lennox, Yebba, and Queen Naija. It is one of the smoother projects out this year that is definitely worth a listen.
But for now, take a listen and watch the music video to Lucky’s new song out now.
