The Chainsaw Man OP Is Perfect In Every Way

It’s here y’all! Chainsaw Man is finally broadcasting and its opening slaps hard! So let’s rev up our chainsaw hearts and rip through this.

The Chainsaw Man

A little bit of lore before we get into the imagery and opening itself. Furthermore, Chainsaw Man is a shonen manga series written by Tatsuki Fujimoto. This mad lad went against all tropes and preconceived notions of what makes a good shonen protagonist. Out of that came our lovable idiot Denji. The monstrous Chainsaw Man is just a guy who wants to live a normal life and meet a girl. Actually, he is relatable in all the right ways, he’s even got amazing fight scenes! Just take a look at the panel below and I’m sure you’ll at least be intrigued.

I’ve read the entire series and have collected a handful of physical volumes. Notably, it has quickly became my favorite current series alongside Jujutsu Kaisen. You can imagine how excited I was to hear the anime was being made. Now, let’s actually rip through the incredible “KICK BACK” by Kenshi Yonezu.

“KICK BACK” is Chainsaw Man at its finest. From the chainsaw SFX to start things off to the incredible variety of instruments and vibes that come together- it’s just perfect! Lyrically, it’s about grinding and trying to reach for the best you can. So what about the visuals?

A Visual Spectacle

Next, let’s talk about the bombastic, animation fusing, frantic opening to Chainsaw Man! We start off with a 3D shot accompanied by a bass line that just- ooooo. After that, they offer a look at our main cast. From left to right, we got: Denji, Makima, Aki, and Power. You’ll love them, trust me. Anyway, after this we get movie reference after movie reference, that surprisingly fits perfectly with the kind of author Fujimoto is. Take that and put in incredibly spicy shots and fantastic action sequences and you got an absolute banger!

If that wasn’t enough to convince you to watch Chainsaw Man then take the word of your friendly neighborhood writer. Chainsaw Man is already an instant classic and will be on every self respecting anime fan’s top five. Go and give it a watch on Crunchyroll or Hulu
