Taylor Swift Shocks Fans With “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)”

Taylor Swift has done it again. Ahead of the release of the re-recorded version of her album Red (Taylor’s Version), the pop star gave fans the new version of “Wildest Dreams” – which belongs to her 1989 album.

“Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” Comes to Light Thanks to TikTok

So, why did Taylor release a song off an album that she hasn’t even announced yet? Well, you can thank TikTok for this. In recent weeks, the popularity of the original “Wildest Dreams” surged when the song was used in a TikTok trend. Because of this, the daily Spotify plays of “Wildest Dreams” jumped from around 400,000 plays a day to about 700,000 plays a day.

“Wildest Dreams” has been rising in popularity on TikTok because of a trend with its “slow zoom” filter. Rather than have the prior Big Machine rendering of the song benefit from the surge, Taylor decided to rush-release her new version of the song, which presumably otherwise would have been held for whenever her full 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would have been set to come out in her gradual rollout of complete-album remakes.

So, to give fans a nice surprise; as well as benefit from it, she released “Wildest Dreams” out all of a sudden. She tweeted, “Hi! Saw you guys got Wildest Dreams trending on TikTok, thought you should have my version.”

Looking Forward to Red (Taylor’s Version)

Red (Taylor’s Version) is set to release on November 19. So far, no songs off the album have been released, so “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” is the singer’s second solo release since the re-release of Fearless (Taylor’s Version), along with the original version of folklore’s “the lakes.” The album arrived as the very first one of Taylor’s version re-releases.

“Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” sounds quite similar to the 2014 version, which may be because it has not been that long ago when it first came out. Nevertheless, fans now have a different way to enjoy the tune, knowing that Taylor will be the one benefiting from the streams.
