Mega-star Taylor Swift made an appearance in the trailer for the upcoming feature film Amsterdam. The murder mystery is definitely a different feel from Swift’s previous acting roles. In 2019, she was in the movie Cats, and before that, she had been in The Giver, The Lorax, and Valentine’s Day. Most recently, though Swift isn’t acting, she has participated in the soundtrack of Where the Crawdads Sing.

Amsterdam is about three friends who are accused of a murder. They must solve the mystery of who the real murderer is. The crime thriller takes place in the 1930s, and even though Swift is only seen for a moment in the trailer, viewers can see that she is decked out in 1930s fashion. Check out the trailer below!

The Controversy of ‘Amsterdam’

However, many fans don’t know how to feel about Taylor Swift’s participation in the David O. Russell film. Long-time director Russell has had several controversial assault allegations made against him in the past. Whether the accusations came from actors and actresses he directed, or his transgender niece, Russell has yet to be charged for his abusive behavior. This, along with the fact that so many big names are now acting in his film, is more than a little upsetting to many fans of Swift or the other cast members. As of right now, there seems to be a lot of mixed feelings about the film. People do have some time to make up their minds, as Amsterdam won’t be released until November 4th this year.
