Sigrid Doesn’t Like “Burning Bridges”

Rising Norwegian artist Sigrid is back with a new single. “Burning Bridges” arrives as the electrifying follow-up to June’s “Mirror.”

Sigrid is Making a Big Comeback This Year

This year, Sigrid is giving us the music that we didn’t know we needed so badly until she gave it to us. Her big comeback single in June, “Mirror,” already surpassed 16 million streams on Spotify. It marked Sigrid’s first single in two years, and the first one since the release of her debut album Sucker Punch in 2019.

Now, Sigrid delivered a follow-up single. “Burning Bridges” offers a different style than “Mirror,” which has a disco vibe. In the new song, Sigrid changes the rhythm to make it more forceful and energetic.

In the lyrics, she expresses going through a hard relationship where eventually she had to let the person go. “You gotta let it go, sometimes you just can’t fix it. You love somebody, love somebody. But you gotta let them go. Before you go down with ’em. Can’t love somebody who loves burning bridges,” she sings in the chorus.

A Tough Experience Inspired “Burning Bridges”

Sharing the song’s meaning with NME, Sigrid explained, “It’s about that moment when you know you have to let go. And when you are listening to the song, I’m cool with it being anything you want it to be. I’ve also found out it’s a great song for running in the woods, or walking to a meeting you’re a bit nervous for, or power walking down the street – it’s just a really sick song and I’m so proud of it.”

In a press release, Sigrid added, “It’s inspired by one of the toughest things I’ve been through. It’s a song that’s about the point where you just have to say in a relationship, ‘you know what, let’s just finish this.’ That moment of enough is enough, and you need a clean break.”
