Sigrid Comes Back With Self-Love Anthem “Mirror”

Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid returns after more than a year of musical hiatus with the uptempo, disco-pop single “Mirror.”

Sigrid Teased “Mirror” on TikTok

“Mirror” talks about loving the person you see “in the mirror” — yourself. The release of the song was first teased by Sigrid on TikTok. She posted a video of herself reacting to a comment on whether she will be releasing new music soon. She then continued to tease the release of the song via TikTok and Instagram before sharing a snippet of it.

Sigrid shared what the song means to her via Tiktok. “So, ‘Mirror’ lyrically for me is about how you have to accept yourself. And with that, I mean like you have to accept that sometimes you are a person. You have to be strict, sometimes you have to apologize. Sometimes you have to comfort others, sometimes you have to comfort yourself. Basically, just accepting your personality and the positive sides, the negative sides you have. It sounds really cheesy but [overall it’s] just being ok with being a human and living with it.”

Coming Back After Almost Two Years

The new song arrives a year and a half following the release of “Home To You,” which came out in November 2019. After such a long wait, it was anticipated that fans were going to be extremely excited about new music. They are showing that already, as “Mirror” already surpassed the 1.5 million streams on Spotify. More impressively, 2.8 million views on YouTube.

Songwriter Emily Warren and producers Caroline Ailin and Sly worked with Sigrid on “Mirror”. It’s paired with a music video by Femke Huurdeman and CANADA that finds the singer rocking various flashy and unflashy outfits, including one that literally flickers like a disco ball. “We wanted to explore how conflicting it can feel to have different sides of yourself competing against each other, and not working together,” Sigrid writes in a press release. “And as I can’t stand still whilst singing, there’s a lot of dancing, running, driving. You can tell I had a great time on the shoot :).”
