Sega Bodega says whatever came before his new era was the preface
Striking and tender, Sega Bodega is back with a new single titled Angel On My Shoulder. The co-owner of NUXXE label, along with Shygirl, released the track as the second single from his sophomore album Romeo. On Twitter when talking about the new era Bodega says, “Whatever came before felt like the preface, what comes next is the book.” Following the lead single, Only Seeing God When I Come and now Angel On My Shoulder surely we can expect something personal and cerebral from the artist on his new album.
The artist gets personal on his new track
Completely written and produced by Bodega himself, the London-based artist touches on themes of death and what comes after for those who have passed. Following the passing of his friend and collaborator SOPHIE, perhaps this song was an ode to the legendary artist. In a tweet explaining the meaning behind the track, Bodega said that if he lost a friend at a young age he would never know what impact they would have in his life. He explained that the people that pass in our lives are “our guardian angels.” Angel On My Shoulder is the idea that while people may be gone from our lives they can still guide us – they can still impact us.
What to expect from his new album
Further, the style of Sega Bodega’s music is one that is intoxicating but indulgent. What he is doing with music is exactly what he wants to do with it. We have seen his deftly produced tracks with artists like Shygirl, COUCOU CHLOE, and Oklou. Now, on his new project, we will see collaborations with Barcelona-based artists Arca and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Expect the LP, Romeo, on November 12th. It will release under his label NUXXE Records. Undoubtedly, Angel On My Shoulder was a breathtaking glimpse into the world Sega Bodega will create on this upcoming album. Stay up to date on the project through his Twitter at @segabodega.
