Robert Glasper

American producer, songwriter and pianist Robert Andre Glasper, is one of the core personalities in today’s jazz scene. Ranging from jazz to hip-hop, R&B to soul, Glasper is one of the most versatile artists in circulation. In fact, he has collected four Grammy Awards and received nine nominations across eight different categories. Also, he has collaborations with the likes of Thundercat, Denzel Curry and now the late Mac Miller.

Therapy pt. 2” is a jazz-influenced song, extract of Glasper’s deluxe edition of Black Radio III.

Speaking of, Glasper discussed the collaboration with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1:

“I was in another studio session and he called me one night like ‘What are you doing?’ And I said ‘Actually man, I’m in the studio.’ He said ‘Man, I’m in the lab too… I need to be inspired. Send me something!’ I was like ‘Word, ok.’

The artist also praised his friend’s talent:

“I just sent him the track I was working on and he literally sent that joint back in like 45 minutes to an hour, the whole song was done in 45 minutes to an hour.

“He was always like that, he always wanted to work. Few times he came and sat in with me, some of my shows, always talking about music. He just really lived off music. Music was literally his air. Gonna miss that dude.”

Mac Miller’s Legacy

On September 7th, 2018 the world lost one of the most creative and influential rapper/songwriter of this generation. However, his music lives on and continues inspiring new artists today. In fact, fans not only can find old pieces online, but also multiple posthumous releases as well. The collaboration with Glasper is not the first to bring Miller back in fans hearts. An example is last year’s mixtape Faces, one of the artist’s darker projects, released by Mac Miller estate. Multiple songs and music videos were released as well.
