Rico Nasty Drops Four New Tracks on SoundCloud

Rico Returns to SoundCloud

Rico Nasty goes back to her roots, releasing four songs on SoundCloud. The rapper got her start on the streaming site with OG fan favorite tracks like “iCarly.” Rico Nasty outgrew the world of SoundCloud as her 2018 single “Smack a Bitch” and her subsequent album Nasty broke her into the mainstream. Her brand new SoundCloud playlist entitled Rico’s Archives features a collection of songs from her early career. In these songs you can hear Rico experimenting with punk and nu-metal influences, creating the edgy, trap-metal sound she is recognized for today.

The Different Sides of Rico Nasty

Rico Nasty posted a mysterious photo on Instagram with the caption “Secrets on SoundCloud,” prompting fans to head to the streaming site for new music. Rico’s Archives showcases her range as an artist. She can make cute, airy pop songs in a style Rico herself coins “sugar trap.” But she can just as easily release her primal rage on an in your face hip-hop punk banger. The opening track on the playlist, “Switch Places,” explores her unique, hardcore, shouting style. On the flip side, “How Ya Feel” and “Cotton Candy” are vibrant and bubbly pop tracks where Rico embraces her feminine side. The last track, “Grow Up” slows things down as Rico gets nostalgic for a simpler time. She also sings about always losing her keys and being bad at parking, so I couldn’t help but empathize with this track.

What’s Going on in the World of Rico?

Earlier this month, Rico Nasty gave a performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) series. She was accompanied by a very badass looking all-female band, performing new songs and fan favorites like “Rage.”  She opened the set with her latest single, the softer, beachy, “Magic,” before moving onto her more aggressive material, like “OHFR?.” In late spring, Rico teased new music, posting an Instagram photo teasing a mixtape entitled, Rx. The mixtape was expected to drop this summer, but a release date for the project has yet to be announced.
