Moon Tang Drops New Single “Bad Weather”

Thai-Chinese indie singer-songwriter “moon tang” just dropped a chill new track: “bad weather,” a calming tune about getting over unrequited love. Let’s check out moon tang and her new track together!

“Filling the Emptiness In My Heart”

Moon tang is no stranger to loneliness. With her first love and exposure to music born from isolation in her home life. She slowly began to also create her own music, using it as a medium to express her own feelings and heartfelt emotions. Soon afterwards, her first experiences in songwriting, an official Hong Kong label has signed her as an independent artist. Her cover and collaborative songs “Allure” and “Honest” were successful, garnering a million streams each. Warner Records would eventually sign her, and she would release her first independent single: “Lately” in 2022.

“Bad Weather” Is Complicated

So it’s no surprise that “bad weather” is a deeply complex tune with contrasting heartfelt themes. Moon tang’s emotions can be felt in these delicate yet poignant vocals, with a melody that is instantly captivating and dynamic. The tune is almost jazzy, feeling like a light, smooth jazz cafe soundtrack in some aspects. Yet, also capturing that acoustic guitar instrumental that has become commonplace in so many songs now.

Perhaps the most intriguing part of “bad weather” is the lyrics. Instantly, despite the soothing nature of the song, moon tang drops some deep-cutting lyrics:

“I don’t know if this is what I really want / Think I love you more than myself / Hate to think that you have won,”

The song itself also seems to have a narrative arc. With the chorus changing from an accusatory and desolate tone, to a more optimistic and motivational tone. Moon tang seems to be telling herself in the last chorus that she can’t blame herself for the loneliness in her life. This just causes unnecessary pain for herself and others around her. The music video reflects this notion, which shows moon tang in exciting social events such as a birthday party. Yet, it is only when she is alone where she is the most happy, finally smiling and letting free her true self.

Moon tang is an incredibly poetic and talented new artist on the scene, and it will be incredibly exciting to continue following her future music! Check out moon tang’s future projects by clicking here!
