Colombian Reggaeton singer Manuel Turizo just dropped his sophomore album Dopamina. It includes collaborations with artists such as Wisin & Yandel, Farruko, Maluma, Rauw Alejandro, and will.i.am.
The Early Start of Dopamina
Manuel Turizo started hinting at this new album seven months prior to its release. Premiering the song “Quiéreme Mientras Se Pueda” in its remixed version alongside Jay Wheeler & Miky Woodz, he announced a new era was coming. Only a month later, he released “La Nota” featuring Rauw Alejandro & Mike Towers, which gained massive popularity right away.
To start off the new year, he released the final single off the album before its official release date. “Mala Costumbre” featuring reggaeton legends Wisin & Yandel, which was a dream come true for Manuel Turizo. “I’ve been a huge Wisin & Yandel fan since I was a little kid. As soon as we wrote the song, I was imagining them singing the chorus. About a year later, the laws of attraction came into play. Yandel loved it when I sent it to him. But I needed both of them, so I sent it to Wisin too. It’s a song that I love and remember very fondly because it was a dream that came true,” he shared on Apple Music.
Manuel Turizo + Maluma = Hit
On Dopamina’s release date, he celebrated by dropping the music video of a new single off the new album, which also features a huge collaboration. “Amor en Coma” counts on the vocals of the one and only Maluma, so it’s no surprise that it’s already moving up in the charts. Manuel shares, “It’s about how to break up with someone painlessly, which is impossible. You can never leave on good terms. We all go through that at some point, and it had to be said in a song. You are with someone, you get bored, and you don’t know how to tell them.”
He adds, “I’ve been wanting to collaborate with Maluma for a while because I want that big Colombian scene to really show what it can do because maybe there’s still some work to do. The song sounds very much like Maluma and very much like Manuel Turizo. He’s a great artist and it’s an honor to record with him.”
An Album Meant to Listen From Beginning to End
The album also includes songs performed by Manuel Turizo alone. With a total of 13 tracks, we can expect more hits to come out from Dopamina. “This is not an album to enjoy one or two songs, we took the time to work with detail and passion on each song to make them stand out and have the potential of becoming singles. Dopamina is an album to listen to from the beginning to end,” Manuel says.
“Your brain releases dopamine when you’re feeling pleasure, when you’re doing things you like, when you’re with the person you love, when you’re eating something you enjoy, or watching something entertaining. So this album is that, a dopamine release because it’s going to make you feel that good!”
