Maluma Celebrates Earth Day With “Rumba”

Earth Day took place last week on April 22. Maluma made sure to celebrate the big day by dropping a new song, “Rumba (Puro Oro Anthem,)” featuring the Sun itself.

“Rumba (Puro Oro Anthem)” Features The Sun

The new song plays a tribute to the Sun, and Maluma couldn’t have done it a better way. “Rumba” features the soft roaring sounds of the Sun. It’s also a collaboration between the singer and the beer brand Michelob Ultra Pure Gold. It arrives as a celebration of the brand’s first-ever organic lager brewed with 100 percent renewable electricity from solar power, Anheuser-Busch’s.

“I’ve collaborated with some of the biggest artists in the world, but never before with a star that’s literally out of this world,” Maluma said in an official statement about the sun-powered beer. “I had so much fun partnering with Michelob Ultra Pure Gold to record this anthem and I love that it is in support of sustainability, which is a huge passion of mine. I really hope people enjoy ‘Rumba (Puro Oro Anthem)’ and join us in this celebration with a Pure Gold in hand.”

The soulful song came accompanied by a music video, where the Sun is featured in the beginning, as its sound can be listened to. “Rumba” talks about partying all night long until seeing the sunrise in the morning. “How crazy that rumba (party) was. What a good thing, you there looking so beautiful. Uncapping the bottle (Baby). We saw the sunrise, it was not my imagination.”

Looking Forward To Summer

During an interview with NYLON, Maluma shared he hopes to see people dancing to “Rumba.” “Summer’s coming. We wanted to inspire people to try to go back to normal life. After COVID and everything we’re living right now, I feel like it’s time to go out and hang out, to go back to the regular things that we used to do. So I wanted to do a pretty uptempo song, a song that once you hear it, you want to start dancing. And that’s the inspiration for this song.”

“We wanted to make this song for the clubs, to try to enjoy the summer that it’s coming. It’s not a secret that COVID is kind of hard right now, and more in Latin America. But I see that the vaccine is working pretty fast there in the States. So I feel like this summer, we’re going to be able to enjoy the sun outside.”
