Lizzy McAlpine: Re-Visiting Her Song ‘Older’ Off Last Album

Lizzy McAlpine and “Older”

We’re looking back on Indie-folk pop singer Lizzy McAlpine on the first single off of her last album, Older. So happens that we’re just a few weeks past the 5 year anniversary for her first album. The single, also titled “Older,” is a bit of a throwback to McAlpine’s first album, Give Me A Minute (2020). It’s simplistic in production; there are no big swells like in her chart-debut song, “ceilings.” Instead, the song illustrates coming into adulthood while also yearning for the days of the past and the things that you wish were different now.

With lyrics like, “Over and over / A carousel ride / Pay for your ticket / Watch the red moon climb / Sick to my stomach / Can’t find the ground / Stuck in a loop / Watch the curtain come down,” McAlpine paints images of how it feels to grow up and miss the ease of youth.

In announcing her third album, Lizzy McAlpine posted on her social media a message to her fans.
