JC Stewart Pours His Heart Out on “Loud”

Irish breakout artist JC Stewart released a new heartbreaking ballad, “Loud,” making it his second single of the year.

Back in January, Stewart dropped the upbeat-tempo track “Break My Heart”. It has already surpassed the 10 million streams mark on Spotify. “Loud,” its follow-up, takes a completely different turn from his last song. It is a heartbreaking ballad that is particularly personal for him.

JC Stewart Wrote “Loud” For His Girlfriend…Awww!

Stewart wrote “Loud” when he spent time alone on the coast of Kent in England. It was where he drew the “inspiration he needed for the song’s affecting emotional intensity”. “‘Loud’ came along at the end of a really weird time in my life and I’m so grateful for it,” he shared on social media. “This song fell out of me at the end of a time that nearly broke me. I’ve never put more of myself into my music before. I really hope you can feel it like I do.”

The track was subsequently produced by the Grammy winner Koz, (best known for his work with Dua Lipa). Also, mixed by Matty Green (Dermot Kennedy, Louis Tomlinson.)

In the video for “Loud,” Stewart is joined by his girlfriend, the model Annabelle Hoy, who is also featured on the single’s artwork. Stewart says, “The concept of the video stemmed around the fact that sometimes when I’m feeling overwhelmed, it can feel like being underwater. Both intense and silent. Overwhelming and solitary. I thought the water symbolized what I felt for the few months before I wrote the song; and wanted to make that the main focal point. Having my girlfriend in it, who the song is about, was also incredibly special. Something I’ll be able to cherish forever.”

JC Stewart will be looking for Loud to become his third release in a row to impact the Official Irish Homegrown Chart. His 2020 collaboration with British producer 220 Kid “Too Many Nights” reached Number 2, while the January release “Break My Heart” peaked at Number 4.
