Even the Weeknd’s Album Campaign Is Getting Awards

Earlier this month Republic Records won a Clio Music Award for Best Integrated Campaign for The Weeknd’s After Hours. The record company also won the Label of The Year award whose category just debuted this year. Setting the bar even higher for other musicians to follow with the this record-breaking project.

The Clio Awards recognizes the most creative and relevant marketing and communications projects going on. It is a way to award those behind the scenes of the music industry responsible for marketing and communication. In addition to Republic Records’ award, Sony Music Publishing took music publisher of the year and Spotify took agency of the year.

After such a crazy year of all awards went to the big name companies behind some of your favorite acts. But lets not forget about the amazing talent Republic Records had to market off of: The Weeknd. While breaking records on the Billboard charts,  The Weeknd also managed to perform on pretty much every award show possible. Except for The Grammys and I’m sure they have apologized a million times over for the snub.

Additionally, The Weeknd has received the 2020 Global Digital Single Award for the septuple-platinum hit “Blinding Lights”. The award recognizes the best-selling single of the year worldwide. This looks across individual track downloads as well as paid and ad-supported streams.

The Weeknd’s most recent project, After Hours, released in March of 2020, also garnered multiple certifications from the RIAA. The double-platinum album featured the tracks “Save Your Tears,” “After Hours,” and “In Your Eyes” which all progressed to platinum. Additionally, “Blinding Lights” has officially been minted seven-times platinum.

This news comes after The Weeknd’s historical Superbowl performance back in February, which left many speechless. Ironically, even with this year proving to be his most successful, we still can’t get over that the Grammys snubbed him of all nominations this year.

The Weeknd announced the dates for his After Hours World Tour. The 104-date global tour will kick off on January 14th, 2022 in Vancouver at Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena. The tour will span from Los Angeles, Miami, Paris, London and more, before wrapping on November 18th.
